The sun will set at 9:03 pm tonight in Ohio, and I hope we are walking down the sidewalks that shimmer here. The urgent twilight thrushes will call out; crickets will chirp and buzz, and the loveliest song of the neighborhood, the one of clanking dishes and laughter and fuzzy music, will waft behind our walk. I will wear a nightgown in the streets and carry a coupe glass of fizzy wine. I have slowly become a woman I saw once when I was young and afraid. We talk of all the things that need to be done, but we know we won't do them because the sky is so smeared with pink that it makes me shake my head, and we will go home and put on records and kiss on the leather couch instead.
How's your summer going? I'm messing around with main character summer energy here. It sort of looks like me not waiting for permission, being rather wild—moving my story forward, setting boundaries, taking up space, and turning down supporting roles if they leave me empty or unfulfilled. It looks like not knowing what is going to happen: possibly surrender, but in a beautiful way. Possibly preferring plot twists. Pretty little protagonist over here.
To do:
Write your own sunset spell.
Leave me a comment about your summer vibe. Pretty please?

My summer vibe is late dinners and daily naps. Morning walks and afternoon floats in the pool. Reading daily, dreaming always.
