You know, they say that later in life, people bring baggage into relationships—loss, other people’s expectations, debt, children to be raised, buckets of worry, strange family mythologies, lies, the truth. They say this like it is a curse. Like a steamer trunk to lug around. Like large carry-on items you must always check. Like you ain’t ever known the weight of love.
