How to Be More Interesting in Real Life
A list I stuck in my kids' book
Daydream. Be bored for at least 30 minutes a day.
Read creative nonfiction essays about all sorts of things you never thought you’d be into.
Read Wikipedia for 10 minutes a day.
Know things. Become an expert in something odd. Maybe something obscure like the history of archery, Acacia trees, foraging, film noir.
Being a person like this is sexy.
Read a lot of books. Like, a fuck ton.
Learn to dance. Like, really dance.
Bust that shit out at the next wedding or wild night out.Stand on skinny branches. Say yes to uncomfortable ideas.
Bravery is wildly powerful and seductive.
Try things that make you slightly uncomfortable.
Feel like a winner after.Have actual opinions when you talk to people.
Debate.
Safe answers are beige.Quick, make something. Anything at all.
Bad art, pottery, collages, bread.
Makers > consumers.
Always.Learn a skill that requires a teacher.
You will learn and you will have a story to tell.Have a dish that everyone loves and asks for.
Know the recipe by heart.
Write it down for people.
Cooking is a delight of life.Learn to ask specific questions so people actually want to talk to you.
Ask them what they’re super into right now.
What they love to do.
When was the last time they cried.
What they want for their future.
Watch their faces slowly change and soften
because everyone else is boring
and just asks what do you do?Have a project with a deadline.
Goals are active. They can make you peppy.Memorize a poem.
This could get you laid.Write letters to your loved ones.
Mail that is not a bill or junk is holy.Learn a magic trick.
WHAT ELSE? Add to this?
HERE ARE THINGS I CAN DO FOR YOU!
(Email me amytsharp at gmail dot com)
I host writing/creativity workshops for (small or large) groups of friends in my studio in Columbus, Ohio, or via Zoom. These are active and connected experiences. Want one?
I do creative coaching.
I do corporate workshops too. I have worked for places like NetJets, JPMorgan Chase, Abercrombie & Fitch and more. See the love me:
I write custom love poems. 100 bucks of worth it love. People mostly cry and send me back love notes after. I can do them via email or zoom or chat on ye olde phone.
I consult on branding, marketing, and copywriting. I am good at it. This is my little blurb of what I have done:
My writing and strategic leadership have touched a variety of brands across sectors, from packaged goods to international shipping to retail. My content expertise ranges from storytelling, UX writing, strategic planning, and long-form writing to brand experience creation, conversational design and AI, chatbots, social campaigns, and scriptwriting. I have a passion for creating the best possible user experience, and that means focusing on the smallest details that make up a product—from UI copy and error messages to consistency throughout the entire journey. Collaborating with teams, I approach the process with empathy, shaping experiences through valuable, purposeful content that guides users effectively.
ONE HUGE WAY to support me is to subscribe to the newsletter.
Starting right now, all paid subs get a 20-min ANYTHING YOU NEED call with me. Once per year. Old school phone or Zoom. It is a tiny slice of my creative coaching, or it can be where we talk about goals or writing or creativity or skincare—I don’t care. I just want to be in service to you even more. So just check this link and sign up if you are a paid sub! <3
I invite you with my whole heart.
thank you!

Sign up for a community class!! Not only do you learn something new, but you meet people who are doing the same thing. It’s brave to take a class alone, so smile and introduce yourself. Ask them what brought them to the class.
