CREATIVE ADVENT 9

Growing up, my mom used to keep holiday letters in our ornament box. Back in the 1900s, before Facebook updates, people had to share life changes—deaths, divorces, school successes, the whole years-in-review type of thing—through holiday cards. My mom was super popular, lol, so we got a lot of these. Inspired by her, I started writing letters to myself every year when packing away Christmas decorations. I’m *truthful* about how the year went, and finding those letters the next year is always a powerful experience. Sometimes I cry so hard sitting on the basement steps, but I’m always grateful for past Amy.
