Hello friends,
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me and my family. We took an amazing vacation to California to spend time with my bestie, and it was exactly what I needed. The ocean, the gorgeous space my friend owns, the mountains, and even a night away from kiddos at the Chateau Marmont—all of it was so healing and rejuvenating. I am a shiny thing in California.
Unfortunately, we brought COVID home with us. I have a feeling that Finnian and his girlfriend, who arrived late after some terrible travel issues and weren't feeling well, might have been the source. My father thankfully had a mild case, and the other two boys managed to escape it altogether. Keith and I weren't so lucky; he had a rough time, and I was probably hit the hardest. It took me about two weeks to feel semi-normal again. I wanted to write during that time, but I couldn't think straight. So, thank you for hanging in there with me. I'm back now and ready to dive into some exciting things with you all.
Fall Writing Cohort
I'm thrilled to announce the launch of a small, free fall writing cohort exclusively for subscribers! We'll gather to work on revision projects in groups, offering support and feedback to one another. If you're interested in joining, stay tuned—I'll be sharing more details soon, including the date of our first Zoom session. The best part? We'll be able to write together and solo, and then come together for a reading.
Summer Writing Update
I must confess—I didn't meet my goal for writing the Great American Novel this summer. But hey, summer isn't officially over yet right?!?! This is comforting.
Just because the pool closes next week doesn't mean we have to give up those golden hours, lawn wines, and lingering sunsets.
Weepy Days
The school year is upon us, and I'm feeling a bit emotional. Blaise is starting his senior year, Scout his freshman year, and Finn has embarked on a film program. Two of them are driving cars now! We've been busy with haircuts, thrift shopping for clothes, shoe shopping, and handing out new notebooks and backpacks. Time is going so very fast.
