It’s hard to write this thing rolling around in my head. I won’t really tell you much other than I have a lot of pages written and I am slowly working on it between depression and anxiety. This is just a little scene. All works in progress. I just wanted to share. I promise to share more if you want me to. I am not sure of the rules. I think it is ok to share a chapter later. Then I will try and gain courage to finish it and send it off to someone. It is far weirder than this small excerpt gives. ILY thank you for being my subscribers and I really do appreciate your love that you give me. I am lucky. I know this. I hope to be able to give you a book someday.

The scent of damp earth and wild garlic hit Liza as she walked through the woods, her family's woods, a familiar comfort. It was strange to be back, wearing her father’s large wellies and the ancient, ripped brown barn jacket that had hung on the same hook in the barn since she was too short to reach it. She could see ramps pushing through the leaf litter, a sign of spring, just as her sister had taught her so many years ago. Liza felt anxious to start the mile walk back to the farm. She had only been back for four days and had done her best to stay under the radar, fixing up her small space, unpacking, and setting up a writing area. Ada was texting her that it was time to come drink cocktails and join the Appalachian mixed mesophytic forest club.
